Diversity Practicum- May 2016 -I attended Saxvik Elementary School to fulfill my Diversity Practicum experience. I worked with Mrs. Ashley Garaas' kindergarten classroom and participated one-on-one and large group instruction. This school provided experience with students from not only different ethnic groups, but also for low socioeconomic status. Study Abroad- Rome- May 2015 -I was fortunate to have the experience of traveling to Rome, Italy in May 2015. During my time abroad, I was able to immerse myself in multiple settings that embraced culture from all around the world. I traveled to other countries in Europe, such as Barcelona, Spain, Dublin, Ireland, Assisi, Italy, etc. This experience challenged me as I experienced how multiple cultures can come together in a central location, similar to what I want to create in my classroom.
Block I Practicum- Dorothy Moses- Fall 2015 -Dorothy Moses is a Title 1 school where most of it's families are from low socioeconomic status. I not only had the priveledge to work with students from this status, but also students from other ethnic groups, specifically Native American and Hispanic. I went to a private Catholic school growing up and unfortunately was not exposed to these differences.
